Devices ..... How Do They Work

The key to Windows-based terminals
is the unique ability to separate an applications interface from
its execution. During a Windows-based terminal computing
session, only the mouse clicks, keystrokes, and resulting screen
updates travel across the network. All data processing and
storage, and execution of applications occur on the server.
Thus, a Windows-based terminal requires only one-tenth the
bandwidth of conventional client/server network. The interface
between a Windows based terminal and its server is enabled by
Citrix ICA ® (Independent Computing Architecture) protocol or
the Microsoft RDP protocol. These protocols provide access
across any type of network to a full multi-user Windows NT
Operating system environment.
